  26. Mmkay, the server is Redhat9, with the following rpm package preinstalled:
  27. ckermit-8.0.206-0.6

  29. If I want to make a clean switch to the latest C-Kermit, I assume the following
  30. procedure is appropriate:
  31. 1. Uninstall the standard distribution package:
  32. rpm -e ckermit-8.0.206-0.6

  34. 2. Download, unpack, compile and install the latest C-Kermit
  35. lynx ftp://kermit.columbia.edu/kermit/archives/cku211.zip
  36. unzip cku211.zip
  37. make linux

  41. Should I just compile and replace the old binary in /usr/bin, and skip the rpm
